FCT Police Sweep Crime Hotspots, Arrest 300

The FCT Police Command has arrested about 300 suspects after raiding shanties, uncompleted buildings and other crime flashpoints across Abuja.

The operation was carried out on Saturday, September 19, and was aimed at disrupting criminal activities and improving security in the territory.

The command's spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

She said several criminal hideouts were raided and items including knives, a toy gun, cannabis and other illicit drugs were recovered.

According to her, all suspects are being screened and profiled. Those found culpable will be charged to court, while those with no case will be released.

Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, said the command will sustain intelligence-led raids on identified criminal hideouts.

He warned youths against drug abuse, noting that it fuels crime and puts communities at risk, and advised those affected to seek counselling and rehabilitation.

Sanusi also warned officers deployed for the operation against extortion, harassment and intimidation, saying any officer found wanting will be sanctioned.

He urged residents to report suspicious activities and criminal hideouts, and called on the public to reach the command on its emergency line 08032003913.
