The Business Summit Group says it is targeting more than $100 billion in investment commitments at the International Investors Summit Nigeria 2026 scheduled for Abuja in November.
President of the group, Dr. M. Haider Uzzaman, announced the target on Tuesday at a press conference in Abuja, saying investors and business leaders from more than 50 countries were expected at the two-day event.
The summit is scheduled for November 10 and 11 at the Grand Ballroom of the Abuja Continental Hotel.
Uzzaman said the summit would focus on investment opportunities in oil and gas, green energy, technology, healthcare, agriculture, mining, infrastructure, education, human capital development, artificial intelligence and fintech.
He said the event was designed to provide a direct platform for international investors to engage Nigerian companies, state governments and investment agencies seeking foreign direct investment and access to international markets.
Uzzaman urged Nigerian businesses, particularly medium- and large-scale enterprises, as well as state governments with viable, investment-ready projects, to take advantage of the summit.
“Investors like projects that have track records for expansion and new production lines,” he said, adding that projects capable of immediate implementation would receive priority.
He said 25 Nigerian companies and state governments participated in last year’s summit in Bangkok, Thailand, where Nigerian participants requested that the next edition be hosted in Nigeria.
Uzzaman and the Vice President of Business Summit Group in Nigeria, Mr. Innocent Obande, said Plateau State had attracted investment commitments of more than $1 billion in the six months following its participation in the Bangkok summit.
Uzzaman’s role in facilitating investment opportunities for the state was said to have contributed to his appointment as Special Adviser on Investment to Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang.
The organisers said registration was now open to companies, state governments and government investment agencies interested in securing one-on-one meetings with international investors.
They also disclosed that Liberian President Joseph Boakai Sr. had expressed interest in attending the summit, while President of Liberland, Vit Jedlička, had confirmed his participation with a delegation.
Governor Mutfwang was also identified as a strong supporter of the investment initiative.
According to Uzzaman, prospective investors are expected from the United States, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Turkey, the Middle East.
Also expected are Gulf Cooperation Council countries Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan and Australia, among others.
The press conference was attended by Mr. Abdul Azeez J. Salawudeen, Director and Chief Financial Officer of Standard Insurance Consultants Ltd., the Nigerian partner of Business Summit Group; Mr. Abid Haider, Vice President, Strategy, Business Summit Group; and Ambassador Bello Ringhim, former Nigerian Ambassador to Malaysia and Director of COPENHAGEN, Nigeria.
