Hon Chamberlain Dunkwu's Unwaveling Contributions to The Making of A Speaker
By Chris Alu
Hon Chamberlain Nnamdi Dunkwu Ph.D. Is the special adviser to the outgoing Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon Femi Gbajabiamila , his contribution to the allied victory of Hon. Tajudeen Abbas as speaker of the
10th House of Representatives can never be overlooked.
He could best be described as a dogged fighter because he fought a heroically war with the opposition and won.
His stake and commitment in the journey were laudable, while the time dedicated was applauded.
Chamberlain was couragious in his assignment as the administrative head of Abbas campaign secretariat and engaged members elect in a harmonious relationship to the build up of Abbas aspiration as speaker of the 10th assembly .
In superlative terms Chamberlain is a unique brand and a hardworking man who any one will hire for a hopeful result either in politics or business because his God giving nature made him so beside he is a goal getter.
His played a key role during the consultations with members elect and facilitated their movement to the secretariat as assigned by Abbas while keeping their records and contacts which enabled him to get them at any time anywhere .
He serve as liaising officer between him and members elect and gives feedback to Abbas.
He also persuade and canvass support for Abbas from the members elect and handled the secretariat perfectly well with motivational incentives that will keep the members and visitors active.
Chamberlain also ensures that the secretariat never lack food for members and visitors as well as keep records of all NGOs and support group that were willing to support Abbas for the project.
He also gives financial support to them if need arise and to other people with little challenges as far as it was genuine and are standing for Abbas.
Chamberlain also made the secretariat a relaxation spot where members can come relax, rest, sleep and eat light refreshment or order food at their peril from the restaurants for them to be comfortable, which was done on a daily basis.
The road to the Green chambers of the national assembly was not an easy one for all members elect and those returning ,hence they all have stories to tell each time the visit the secretariat, talk more of the speakership race that almost became a war zone for the members . It was a long, expensive and exhaustive journey, yet Chamberlain and his men cross the Rubicon and made history.
Of course they did not relent and more efforts were made despite the challenges. He stood firm and strong to the last point of victory.
He marketed Tajudeen very well to every member through calls visits and pleasantries with Abbas and the joint taskforce and the Unity forum at all times.
Other ways he participated in garnering support for Abbas was state visit to governor across the 36 states and a schedule meeting with them in Abuja depending on the availability of the governor because he schedule every movement made on the roaster by the secretariat. Abbas and his team were able to tour the lent and breath of the country.
The template designed by Chamberlain was followed and a WhatsApp group was created for all members while also keeping records of those among them.
Very important information was also passed across to members and stake holders on the platform created by Chamberlain and that gave them the ability to know latest happenings at all times.
He knew all the statistics of members and was able to keep in touch with them frequently and often passed relevant information as directed by Abbas.
He was part of all the strategic meetings held by Abbas and stakeholders including the ones with Mr. President Ahmed Tinubu and his vice Kashim Shetima at the villa.
Chamberlain never rested in persuading the members who were delegate to vote for Abbas as Speaker House of Representatives.
He actually did the biding and the assignment giving to him very well even at odd times.
It was indeed a sacrificial job but for him he did not take it as anything, that is why many are of th views that he will be made Abbas chief of Staff for doing a good job and for his compensation.
Even the secretariat staff are in the same page that he should be made Chief of staff to Abbas but that remains the discretion of Abbas.
For Chamberlain he has done a good job not the first time and might not be the last first it was during Gbajabiamila and now Abbas Kudos to him. Chamberlain is also a Ph.D. holder of Business administration
