Nigerian security forces have rescued all the pupils and teachers who were kidnapped by Ansaru terrorists in Oyo State on May 15, 2026.
The victims were freed on July 9, 2026 following an intelligence-driven search and rescue mission carried out on the direct orders of President Bola Tinubu.
According to the Defence Headquarters, the operation was led by a Joint Inter-Agency Task Force made up of personnel from the Army, Navy and Air Force. They were supported by officers from the Nigeria Police Force, DSS, NIA, DIA and NSCDC.
Security sources said the mission targeted the kidnappers’ hideout and led to the safe release of all the abducted victims without ransom paid.
Officials said the rescued pupils and teachers have undergone full medical checks and received initial psychosocial support to help them recover from the trauma.
They are expected to be handed over to the Oyo State Government before being reunited with their families.
