PSC Promotes 93 Senior Police Officers, Elevates 13 CPs to AIG

The Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of 93 senior officers following written exams and oral interviews held at its Abuja headquarters. 

The approvals were part of decisions taken at the PSC’s plenary meeting on Wednesday, according to a statement by the Commission’s spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani. 

Breakdown of promotions
13 Commissioners of Police → Assistant Inspectors General of Police, AIG 
17 Deputy Commissioners of Police → Commissioners of Police, CP
28 Assistant Commissioners of Police → Deputy Commissioners of Police, DCP
33 Chief Superintendents of Police → Assistant Commissioners of Police, ACP

The Commission also confirmed 162 Assistant Superintendents of Police II to the substantive rank of ASP I. 

 
The 13 newly promoted AIGs are: Itam Nnaghe Obono, Bassey Samuel Ewah, Osagie John Agans-Irabor, Monday Agbonika, Iyamah Daniel Adebor, Isa Danladi Nda, Akaninyene Ezima, Livingstein Ikioye Orutugu, Afegbua B. Rashid, Edozie Hycenth Azuka, Haruna Alaba Yahaya, Emenari Ifeanyi Innocent, and Betty Enekpen Otimenyin. 

 
Promoted to CP are: Nelson Nwamanna, Bolanle A. Murtala, Danbaba Mohammed Labbo, Ajayi Oluyemi, Oki Rita Oyintare, Ibrahim Umar Zungura, Iya Umar Mohammed, Darma Nuhu Na’aliyu, Nuruddeen A. Sabo, Tijjani Murtala, Yakubu Mohammed, Ibrahim Lukunche Usman, Akingbade C. Adeyinka, Mohammed Hassan Ahmed, Samuel Erale Ahmed, Adedeji Taiwo, and Zainab A. Pembi. 

The 28 ACPs elevated to DCP and the 33 CSPs elevated to ACP were also approved, but their names were not listed. 


PSC Chairman, retired DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu, congratulated the officers and urged them to live up to expectations. 

He told them to be “truthful, transparent and accountable,” avoid civil disputes, especially land matters, and maintain professionalism at all times. 

“Guide your reputation and integrity. Let your actions speak for you and not against you. Always remember there is life after retirement,” Argungu said.
