PDP Deputy Spokesperson Decries Ombugadu’s Resignation As Regrettable”.

The Peoples Democratic Party has described the resignation of its former Nasarawa State governorship candidate, Dr. David Emmanuel Ombugadu, as a regrettable and painful development, following his decision to leave the party amid ongoing internal leadership disputes.
Ombugadu had announced his resignation in a letter dated February 28, 2026, addressed to the PDP chairman of Ikka Wangibi Ward in Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Area, stating that his departure was effective immediately.
Responding to the news, the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Hajiya Farida Umar, said the PDP received the resignation with deep regret but remains steadfast and undeterred.
Umar emphasized that the PDP considers itself a political family that invested considerable time, effort, and collective sacrifice alongside Ombugadu during their shared electoral journey, making his exit particularly difficult.
“As a political family that worked together through challenging times, this decision is naturally painful,” she said, noting that thousands of party members have remained loyal even during trying periods.
She further stressed that political loyalty is often tested during internal transitions and that the strength of a political party lies in its ideology, structure, and committed supporters, not in any single individual.
Umar assured that the PDP remains a strong political force in Nasarawa State, rooted in democratic principles and grassroots support, and affirmed that no individual resignation could derail the party’s progress or future plans.
“The PDP is focused on reorganizing and strengthening its structures to present a credible and widely accepted candidate for the 2027 elections,” she said, urging members to remain united, calm, and committed to the party’s vision.
