Iran: IGP orders intensify monitoring in North
By Victor Idajili

The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, on Sunday, ordered all the 37 Commissioners of Police in the States and the Federal Capital Territory to heighten observation across the country.
He charged the commissioners to pay particular attention to the North Central, North East and the North West of the country amid developments in Middle East occasioned by the global war between the United States/Israel and Iran.
Disu, who spoke through the spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin via a statement, asked the CPs to heighten surveillance and intelligence gathering by strengthening collaboration with traditional and religious leaders.
Stateflash reports that the police boss’ directive came a few hours after members of Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), popularly known as Shiites, staged peaceful demonstration to mourn the death of the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Reacting, Disu told the senior police officers to enhance visibility policing around worship centres and public spaces and swiftly address any attempt by individuals or groups to exploit global developments to incite unrest or sectarian tension.
“While Nigeria remains stable and its internal security situation firmly under control, the Force has reinforced proactive, intelligence-led policing measures across the country.
