Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed 1,106 Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province fighters in the North-East and intercepted over N300 million in illicit funds meant for the insurgents.

Outgoing Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, disclosed this on Monday during his farewell address at Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri.

Abubakar said the operations also led to the arrest of 758 logistics collaborators who were aiding the terrorists with supplies.

He said troops recovered more than 475 assorted weapons, 24,409 rounds of ammunition, and discovered and safely detonated 295 Improvised Explosive Devices.

According to him, the successes were recorded through sustained military offensives combined with non-kinetic engagements.

The dual approach, he said, forced the surrender of 969 ISWAP/JAS fighters along with their family members in the last one year.

He listed insurgent leaders neutralised in the operations to include Abu Bilal Al-Muniki, also known as Abu Mainok; Malam Jidda, Amir of Ngorgore and Malumti; Abu Modu; Modu Dogo; Munzir of Dogon Chukun; Abu Aisha, Qaid of Tumbun Mota; and Abul Kaka, among others.

Abubakar added that 638 civilians were rescued from terrorist enclaves, including 46 students during an attempted abduction at the Federal Government Girls College, Monguno.

He thanked President Bola Tinubu and the Borno State Government for the opportunity to serve.
