Tinubu: “I Won’t Look Back On The Economy, Buhari Was My Partner”.
By Victor Idajili

President Bola Tinubu has described his predecessor, the late Muhammadu Buhari, as his political partner, saying his administration effectively represents continuity of their shared governance.
Tinubu made the remarks on Thursday while hosting a delegation of Renewed Hope Ambassadors led by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
He said he has taken full responsibility for the current state of the economy, stressing that his government’s policies are part of a broader effort that began under his and Buhari’s leadership.
In his words, he suggested there was no real break between both administrations, insisting that their leadership should be viewed as one continuous project.
“I didn’t have to look back on the economy because, in truth, I took over from myself,” he said. “Buhari was my partner in governance. If I took over from him, then it is still me. If anything is wrong, we fix it and move forward.”
The president maintained that longstanding economic and political structures that have hindered national progress are being dismantled through ongoing reforms, adding that while the process may be difficult, the outcomes will be beneficial in the long run.
He also urged supporters to help drive grassroots mobilisation, describing them as representatives of a nation seeking to overcome poverty and hardship.

Tinubu further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to democracy, including respect for the rule of law, separation of powers, and citizens’ rights, stressing that court orders must be obeyed regardless of outcome.
He called for unity around a shared national vision, saying there is no alternative to building collective prosperity for Nigerians.
The president also warned against misinformation, insisting that the administration remains focused on inclusive growth, youth empowerment, and ensuring every citizen has a stake in the country’s future.
