Police Kill Bandit, Arrest 47 Suspects in Kebbi Raids

Police in Kebbi State have killed one suspected bandit and arrested 47 others in a sweep of operations aimed at tackling banditry and gunrunning, the state command said Monday.
Commissioner of Police Umar M. Hadejia told reporters at the command headquarters in Birnin Kebbi that 40 firearms were also recovered during the raids. He noted that two of those arrested had been terrorizing communities in Wasagu Local Government Area.
According to Hadejia, a patrol team on the Bena-Mai Rai Rai road intercepted Aliyu Hussaini, 23, of Minna, Niger State, and Sani Abubakar, 28, of Nasarawa Burkullo in Anka LGA, Zamfara State. Officers recovered 36 rounds of live ammunition, a magazine, a Bajaj motorcycle, N264,000 in cash, nine memory cards, four SIM cards, three Android phones and one keypad phone from the pair.
In a separate case, officers on patrol along the Amburusa-Sanyinna road arrested Hussaini Abubakar. He allegedly conspired with one Ukasha Bande to snatch a Bajaj motorcycle with registration number BRK 749 UT from Nasiru Alhassan.
Hadejia also disclosed that operatives from Kalgo Division, acting on intelligence, picked up Ashiru Muhammad, 20, of Alabani village near Makera. The suspect confessed to teaming up with Usman Muhammad and Anas Bangola, who are still at large, to block the Masallaci Zarya-Jega road. The gang allegedly attacked Danjuma Baban Yara and stabbed him in the head.
