US Lawmakers Present Report On Alleged Christian Genocide To Trump, Recommend Solutions.

By Victor Idajili

The United States House Committees on Appropriations and Foreign Affairs have released a report outlining their findings and recommendations regarding the alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria.

US Congressman Riley Moore confirmed the development on his account.

President Donald Trump had tasked Moore and Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole with leading a thorough investigation into claims of targeted attacks on Christian communities and broader security challenges in Nigeria.

Moore previously led a fact-finding delegation to Nigeria, visiting Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in Benue, meeting victims of terrorism, and engaging with Nigerian officials, including the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

Speaking on the report, Moore said the US now has a clear understanding of the threats facing Nigeria and the persecution alleged against Christians. The report includes steps to enforce accountability, counter radical Islamic terrorism, and coordinate with the Nigerian government to enhance security for all citizens.

“Today, Congressman Riley M. Moore joined members of the House Committees on Appropriations and Foreign Affairs at the White House to formally present a comprehensive report outlining concrete actions to end the persecution of Christians in Nigeria and combat rising extremist violence in the region,” Moore said.

The report recommends measures such as establishing a bilateral US–Nigeria security agreement to protect vulnerable Christian communities and dismantle jihadist networks; withholding certain US funds until Nigeria demonstrates progress in stopping violence against Christians; implementing sanctions and visa restrictions against perpetrators; providing technical support to curb attacks by armed Fulani militias; advocating for the repeal of Sharia and blasphemy laws; and coordinating with international partners including France, Hungary, and the United Kingdom.

Moore added, “Following today’s meeting at the White House, I thank President Trump for redesignating Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern and for his administration’s commitment to protecting Christians from persecution while addressing Nigeria’s broader security challenges.

“Since being tasked to lead this congressional investigation, I have worked closely with my colleagues to produce the report we presented today. I also thank House Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole, Vice Chair Mario Diaz-Balart, Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Brian Mast, and Congressman Chris Smith for their leadership in this comprehensive investigation.

“During our bipartisan delegation to Nigeria, I witnessed firsthand the horrific atrocities faced by Christians and the instability the Nigerian government must address.”
