Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Monday evening held a closed-door meeting with former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), at his hilltop residence in Minna, Niger State, in a development that has sparked intense political interest ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Family sources described the meeting as strictly private.
Obasanjo was received on arrival at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna, by officials of the Niger State Government before proceeding directly to Babangida’s residence.
The two elder statesmen reportedly spent about 30 minutes in the private engagement.
Sources familiar with the discussion revealed that national issues dominated the conversation, with particular focus on the country’s political climate and permutations ahead of the 2027 polls.
The meeting comes just days after Obasanjo hosted prominent figures from opposition political parties at his Abeokuta residence, further fueling speculation about behind-the-scenes consultations among Nigeria’s political heavyweights.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement has been issued by either party regarding the visit or the issues discussed.
