The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo (FUHSO), Professor Francis Aba Uba, has led the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Arc. Sonny Togo Echono, on an inspection of major ongoing projects at the university’s Akwete-Akpa site, in a renewed push to ensure quality delivery and timely completion.

During the April 4 visit, the delegation toured several critical infrastructure projects, including an ultra-modern College of Medicine complex, an Administrative Building, Microbiology and Physics departments, a 202-bed student hostel, the university gate, and an expanding internal road network.

The projects are central to FUHSO’s ambition to position itself as a leading hub for medical education and research.

Officials said the inspection builds on an earlier visit to the permanent site a few months ago, reflecting sustained monitoring by both the university management and TETFund.

The facilities, once completed, are expected to rank among top-tier academic infrastructure in West Africa, with modern designs and advanced learning amenities.

Echono also inspected the Multi-User Central Teaching and Research Laboratory and the hostel designated for medical students preparing for clinical training at the Federal University of Health Teaching Hospital, Otukpo (FUTHSO).

The inspection team expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work.

The projects are projected for completion in the coming months and are expected to be commissioned by the President, according to university officials.
